I'm obviously new to this growing up business. I recall myself during certain phases of adolescence. Hmm,...I might be in for a world of trouble as time moves on.
My Hanna Bannana, as I've lovingly called her the majority of her last 11 years of life, advised me recently that this moniker is just not for her anymore. "Mom, seriously, I'm not 5 anymore" I believe that's how she put it. Recently our discussions have been zit creams, shaving, makeup, and young woman talk. Sunday night, as promised, I brought out the shaving cream and the fresh brand new razor she can call her own. I gave her brief instructions as the tub was filling with water, took a deep breath and exited the bathroom pulling the door closed behind me. I'm not going to lie, I was thinking "oh boy! this is the begining of things that will surely cause my demise."
What emerged from that bathroom...well, it was my Hanna Bananna, sans about a half centimeter of her left eyebrow. I couldn't contain myself. I immediately began giggling as Jake starts questioning her, "did you try and shave your eyebrows because they needed waxing, what happened?" I'm obviously still laughing.
Apparently, she managed to splash herself in the face with some shaving cream while investigating her legs closely no doubt. She put her hands in the water to splash some water on her face and failed to put the razor down while doing so. She now has a perfectly shaved line in her left eyebrow.
Apparently this growing up stuff isn't quite the rainbows and butterflies she envisioned. After all the laughter ceased, which she didn't find to appealing, she said "being a girl sucks" aaahhhh the things she's just begining to learn.
